Ankita Valand

Surat (Gujarat) [India], July 10: Dynamic young entrepreneur Ankita Valand has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Women Entrepreneurs Cell of The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), making her the youngest ever to hold the position in the organization.

A kisaan’s daughter, Ankita Valand brings a unique blend of grassroots experience and entrepreneurial spirit to every role she undertakes. A self-made professional, she began her journey as a tuition teacher at the age of 17, skillfully balancing work with her studies. She holds a Master’s degree and has also pursued studies for competitive exams like UPSC and GPSC, reflecting her commitment to continuous learning and growth. Over the years, she transitioned into entrepreneurship and now serves as the Director of Mr. Café – The Sky Lounge.

Ankita has been actively associated with SGCCI for over five years, serving on both the SGCCI Business Connect and the Women Entrepreneurs Cell. Her elevation as Chairperson is seen as a recognition of her consistent contribution to the entrepreneurial ecosystem, especially among women-led businesses in South Gujarat.

Speaking on her appointment, Ankita said, “For a kisaan’s daughter from a small village to becoming an entrepreneur and now taking over as Chairperson of an important cell of SGCCI—one of the oldest chambers in India—is a huge honour. I have been actively involved with SGCCI and other organisations, and this appointment recognises my efforts in empowering women entrepreneurs. I look forward to giving voice to important issues related to women.

Born in Mehsana in North Gujarat and raised in Surat, Ankita’s family comprises diverse professionals, including finance professionals and fashion designers. Despite coming from a well-off background, she faced personal challenges early in life that shaped her work ethic and determination.

Ankita has emerged as a prominent voice on social media, widely respected for her authenticity and strong principles. Her impactful work as a digital creator earned her special recognition from Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, who honored her as a “Social Media Champion” during the Creators’ Meet held in Surat.

A firm believer in growth and networking, Ankita has been invited as a speaker at many business organisations such as BNI, LVB, PEN, and PBN. She also shares her experience and knowledge with the younger generation by speaking at reputed educational institutes like Maliba University, Parul University, and Auro University on diverse subjects such as women startups and career development.

She is also actively involved with Gujarat government’s Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) and contributes to the development of those who actually need the right guidance and direction.

Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clarion call to inspire more youth to become entrepreneurs and support new innovations and ideas, Ankita aims to connect women entrepreneurs and academia, drive financial independence for young women, and promote innovation through collaboration in her new role.

SGCCI President Mr. Nikhil Madrasi and the senior leadership WEC strongly believe in this vision and are committed to appointing young minds to lead the way for betterment and generational change.
